Richard Lloyd Jones: I'm Richard Lloyd Jones, and welcome to this excerpt from Thinking with Somebody Else's Head. Get a job, some on Wall Street are saying to the protesters. Actually, the Occupy movement is doing something important, raising consciousness about our inverted economic system. Work, though, is necessary for the movement, just not work the 1% is talking about. Here's an excerpt from Working for Ourselves, our latest Thinking with Somebody Else's Head program.

The other thing I think that's very important in a trilogical business, because we're talking about businesses that provide something for the society, We need a lot of humility in a way. You know, there's so much megalomania around business today. You know, I want to build this multinational company like Steve Jobs, you know, and I've got this idea and I want to build a company and sell it for $56 billion.

And Dr. Keppe gives a lot of value to work in our companies, to doing real work that benefits people. So it's a humble position. Yeah,

Cláudia Bernhardt Pacheco: in one way it's a humble, in another way it gives honor and dignity. And even financial freedom, which being an employee doesn't give you, you will be always a slave and be dependent on bosses. And they can humiliate you a lot.

Companies can really humiliate you. And I have seen and attended clients that worked, gave their souls, and they gave their lives to the company. And then in a sudden, they're fired. And they have nothing to do, nothing left, because nobody will hire them anymore. And they are like retired. So it's a death, a condemnation of death. So this is very depressive, very immoral, this way of dealing with human beings.

So if you talk to people generally, employees, if you tell them you can have your own enterprise, they will say, me?

Never. How come? I'll never be capable to do this. I don't have money. I don't have capital. I don't have like a structure to do this. So they don't have confidence. They don't trust. So they are very humiliated all the time. So they don't trust in their capacity and the results, the power of their work. And this is very important and necessary.

And as long as two, three or more people get united, get together to follow these rules, Richard, it's no way that they are not getting very soon more money than they were getting through being an employee and having salary.

Richard: Hope for all who believe something needs to be done and a way to bring that change.

I'm Richard Lloyd Jones. The program is Thinking with Somebody Else's Head.
